Mali crisis settlement: UN commends Algeria's key role, President Tebboune's laudable efforts.

NEW YORK (United Nations)- UN Security Council members, at a meeting Wednesday in New York, unanimously commended the role of Algeria, which is spearheading the international mediation efforts, and its continued commitment alongside the Malians on the path of stability recovery in Mali, mainly through the different consultations held in Algiers and Bamako.

The members of the Security Council also paid tribute to the tireless efforts of the international mediation, aimed at preserving intact the commitments of the signatory parties of the Agreement of Peace and Reconciliation in Mali, the outcome of Algiers process, as part of the Monitoring Committee of Algiers Agreement, under the chairmanship of Algeria, to reconcile views for a full implementation of the agreement.

In this regard, the Security Council members urged the Malian parties to fully implement the Algiers Agreement, the cornerstone for sustainable peace and stability in Mali, whose implementation is more important today than ever, especially in terms of transition.

In a report presented to the United Nations Security Council, at the same meeting, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres commended the personal involvement of the president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who "received in Algiers a Malian delegation, at a ministerial level, and representatives of the signatory movements of the Peace Agreement."

Taking part in the meeting, Mali's permanent representative joined the members of the Security Council to extend the thanks of the Malian authorities to the international mediation, especially the mediation leader, namely "the sister Republic of Algeria." The Malian representative reiterated his country's willingness to work with the international mediation to restore peace and stability in Mali.
